Activision pulled ads from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Loadouts today after facing constant criticism from the online gaming community. Most said Activision was opening up the game to a mobile version. Activision argued that the ads were a feature test released in error.
Gamers hated the idea of an ad feature, citing that it resembled a free game, even though it was a pay-to-play premium title. Most gamers failed to believe Activision’s argument, saying they do the act every cycle just to get the gaming community’s sentiments. Activision charges $70 to get onto the Call of Duty game and other battle passes. There is a growing sentiment that Activision’s franchise microtransactions plans have been more aggressive after Microsoft tried to acquire the company for $69 billion.

Most gamers experienced the ads feature when trying to edit their load-outs, saying it was visually jarring for a game they had already paid for. Gamers argued that Black Ops 6 season 4 added bundle ads on the load-outs, which was frustrating for a game they had already paid for.
Activision had also hidden gamer levels in multiplayer lobbies. Sentiments from the community revealed that the developers made it so casual gamers wouldn’t be scared away from competing against experienced ones. The developer reiterated that it was just an error and acknowledged the same in the loadout screen.
In early May, Activision abandoned the mobile version of Warzone. Most gamers believed the game was meant to lead the battle royale into a new era, but the community response revealed that it had not met the desired expectations at the time.
Fans had high hopes that season 4 would be a better success than season 3, which brought back the OG map Verdansk and gave new life to Warzone and the multiplayer version. According to gamers, Season 4 appeared very promising, with the introduction of new guns like FFAR 1, the return of Grief mode in Zombies, and a point of interest (POI) in Downtown to explore.
Black Ops 6 gamers report performance issues after patch release
Warzone and Black Ops 6 received a patch release on May 30, but gamers reacted immediately, reporting performance issues. One gamer on Reddit said that when loading the game, there was no sound; if he changed something on the gun, the game crashed, and the menu was not working. He revealed that it was annoying and not playable on PS5, with a video showing an FPS drop in the middle of a match.
Activision developers updated the community that the issue had been fixed, and Call of Duty services were stabilizing. Gamers revealed that the whole season 4 launch was difficult, to the extent that Warzone Ranked Play was temporarily removed.
According to the Call of Duty developer’s official X platform, the team has diligently worked to resolve performance issues gamers encountered following the initial Season 04 launch on May 30. The developers decided to delay Ranked Play: Battle Royale while they work on restoring the experience to its intended fidelity.
Black Ops 6 was first launched in October 2024 after ongoing rumors led fans of the FPS series to overhype it before its release. The game was in a free-to-play mode until today when it was changed to a premium pay-to-play game.
Call of Duty Leaker announced recently that a Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Ballerina event, based on the upcoming film of the same name and belonging to the John Wick Franchise, will commence from June 5 to June 12. The event would offer gamers ten rewards with weapon blueprints for Blackcell owners.
