BBVA’s Turkish unit currently consolidates its lead in innovative digital payment solutions by creating a new dimension to card transactions with digital receipts, a first in the Turkish banking industry.
Interestingly, Garanti BBVA debit and credit card transaction slip details through Garanti BBVA POS terminals can be tracked easily from the bank’s mobile shopping appBonusFlaş. The card users can view a digital version of the paper slip automatically freeing them from the need to retain printed slips.
The latest move also reduces paper consumption and the carbon footprint by consumer consent for “only digital slip” for all contactless transactions under 500 Turkish lira executed through Garanti BBVA POS terminals.
Murat Çağrı Süzer, Garanti BBVA Payment Systems General Manager, stated:
“As Garanti BBVA our priority is to make our customers’ lives easier through innovative payment products and services. In aid of our sustainability and climate action strategy, we are taking every step to reduce our own and our customers’ environmental impact. Contactless transactions and cardless mobile payment solutions have become the norm in our lives, so switching from print to digital slips is another step forward.”
The use of contactless and mobile payments keeps growing, and the digitalization of paper slips is a valuable and futuristic innovation for the industry digitalization too. With the growth in merchant integrations, the use of digital slips will increase as expected.
Digital Slip will also affect the environment massively by changing paper slips made of non-recyclable papers due to their chemical ingredients.
“We are pleased to set an example for our industry with this first step that will enhance our customers’ shopping experience and reduce their environmental footprint. At GÖSAŞ and Garanti BBVA, we will continue to contribute to sustainability to take better care of the world and the future.”
